Hi All,

I'm ready to start taking preorders for the Punic Wars.  I'm going to do this the same way that I've done previous pre-orders:

1. You have to order the whole set.  In this case that means both boxed sets with a total price of $50.  (The equivalent from other sets would have been $60, but the price on this set is lower.)
2. Shipping is free in the continental US, $10 elsewhere.
3. To place your order, send an email to chad.ellis@comcast.net with the words Punic and Preorder in the subject heading.  (Please make sure you've got both, as this will send it to a separate mailbox and make things go a lot smoother.)
4. When you send your order I'll send you a PayPal invoice -- you can pay it via credit card if you prefer.  If you'd rather pay by check, just let me know.
5. You can add other products to your order.  Battleground decks and Terrain packs are $15, dice are $4, Scenario Booklet is $5, Hill 218 is $10 and Space Station Assault is $5.  Just let me know in your email.

One thing that's different this time is that unless preorder numbers are high enough to justify it I won't be FedExing any advance cases.  Yours will still be the first decks sent out, so you'll have them a couple of weeks or even a month before they reach stores, but the cost of air-shipping from China is just too much unless the entire case is going out via preorders or there's a major convention that depends on it.

I think that covers it.  Thanks in advance to everyone who preorders.  It really does make a difference, so I appreciate it.  Any questions can be asked here or emailed to me.

Best,
Chad

Quick question. I'm definitely interested in pre-ordering but I was wondering if there is a limit on how late we can order. Is it a set date (June 1st) or is it dependent on demand.

Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

There's no set date, per se.  Once I ship to distributors (either late May or early June) I'll be done, but I won't know that date for a few weeks.

Thanks for giving us this option.

Hi Chad
I did send an email to you for 1 punic wars pre-order, but I would like to add 1 dice bag also (just for the red dragon Grin ). Can you please add this to the paypal request when you send it?

Thanks for using it!

To put it into perspective, we get $10 per set from a distributor (so $20 for the equivalent of a preorder).  We get $30 more for a preorder, less maybe an average of $6 in postage and packaging.  So far we've received 20 preorders and my hunch is that we'll end up somewhere between 80 and 100.  That means around $2,000 in extra revenue for YMG.  Obviously most of our revenue still has to come from distributor sales, but it definitely helps a set become profitable when our top fans buy directly from us.

This reason alone would be alone to convince me to preorder, but the general level of quality of the BFG expansions so far was enough already.  Preorder sent.

Update on preorders:

I've sent out PayPal invoices to everyone who has preordered so far.  If you didn't get an invoice, please email me again and let me know.  Thanks to everyone (and special thanks to everyone who has already paid!) for helping make the Punic War set possible.

Is the price or free shipping going to change once the pre-order period is over?

We don't normally sell product directly other than during preorders.  I'm considering changing that, but if I do move to taking orders on a "whenever" basis I will probably charge normal shipping on top of orders.

When I do preorders I can combine all the shipping time into one big batch or possibly a couple of medium batches, depending on how many we get.  If I'm shipping a couple of orders a week each order ends up taking more time (or money, if I want pickups instead of going to the post office).

So basically, it may be that after the preorders are done you can't order directly from us and it may be that you can but it'll cost a bit more and it may be that I'll keep the same price...but I wouldn't count on it.  Smiley

Hi Chad,
An important question. If I ant to pre-order the punic war (60$) in total, does the paypal invoice compulse me to be a member or I can pay ithout having a paypal account?

Best,
Magrit

p.s If the answer is that I don't need a paypal account, I'll send you an email asking for the pre-order invoice.

You don't need a paypal account. I don't have one and had no issues paying.

What happens is Chad sends himself through the email, pops out with a credit card swiper.  He swipes your card, shakes your hand, then emails himself back.

A paypal invoice can normally be paid with a credit card.

You can also do a preorder by check.

I'm trying to preorder the game by writing to chad.ellis@comcast.net, but after a few days I write, I receive a message from the SMTP server of my provider saying that it wasn't able to deliver the message. I've tryed two times, same result. Who can help me (Chad?)?
Thank you. Bye!
