Hi everybody!
For everybody who does not know me. Im Rupert Sedlmayr and You Move Games calls me the Head Supporter of Battleground in Germany.

Before I begin: Sorry for the late report but I just changed my job and had a lot of things in my head other than BGFW.

Now let's go:
The RPC 2008 is one of Germany's biggest Conventions taking place once every year. 2008 the date was 26th and 27th of April.
I was able to recruit four other gamers from my home city Munich (many thanks again to Sartokos, El Fatal and Flow). We rented a car on friday and went 7 hours straight down to Muenster.

We met with a few guys from the Organisation Team of the convention who gave us shelter for one night    (many thanks here, too).
On Saturday morning we entered the con with just a bit of trouble with the securities and saw the layout of the con halls.
And here is where the problems began.
The con consisted of three halls. The biggest (the middle one) was LARP and computer games (mostly MMORPGs). The right hall was boardgames,  roleplaying games and tabletops. The left one was indy games and gaming area. Because we were no official company and because BGFW has a very small community in Germany we got a table as "Indy Game". because the middle hall began to fill with online gamers with almost no interest in other games, we were totally cut off our distributor "Pegasus Spiele" and the reseller "Spieltraum". Almost no roleplayer moved through the noise hell of the computer hall "just to see some games nobody knows". The roleplayers who got to our hall just came there to play with a pre-fixed gaming group and just sat down and played their game.
The result of saturday was: We managed to get a good contact with interested tabletopers from Osnabrück (hey guys!) and made good friends with the guys from "Spieltraum". We also talked to some magazine writers and I hope to get some articles into their papers in the near future.

The guys from "Spieltraum" are very enthusiastic about the game and asked me if they could become an official "Support Base". Because their shop is on the opposite end of Germany from my view this could be a  great benefit.
@YMG team
Please tell me if this would be possible. What I have to to and what the benefit of the guys from Spieltraum would be.

On saturday evening we went along with the guys from Pegasus Spiele who gave us a bed for this night (many thanks goes to them as well!).

Sunday:
On sunday there were so view visitors that we decided not to set up our table because it was not worth it. Believe me. The halls almost half filled and all traders seemed to be rather disappointed.
On the early afternoon, we went home (7 hours in the car, you remember?).

Overall result:
We did a bit of good networking but had absolutely no resonance from potential players. Next year I will think very hard about going there again.

Absolutely.  Have them contact me (use the chad dot ellis @comcast.net address) and I'll be happy to provide them with some support materials.

I'm sorry you had a disappointing convention.  We've certainly had a few of those ourselves, and I know how demoralizing it can be.  We really appreciate all your efforts, though!

Best,
Chad
