So done with Kubla and you can count the hours of sleep I got over four days on two hands and one shoe off. So of course I get sick right after and slept for about twelve hours yesterday when I finally let myself collapse.
I dunno how well Chad did at Kubla, but I got a lot of attention just playing pick up games. I had lots of other miniatures games events but I think I got in like 4-5 games of BGFW in between events, after events, while waiting for the bellhop to arrive, the morning before my friend got on the plane, etc. We had a pretty steady stream of onlookers, especially during the day who were interested.
One thing I noticed is that games draw more interest when you're not running demos and just playing them. I know for me one of the fun things is to walk through the minis hall and the dealer's room browsing new games. People drop in, ask questions, then move on. They don't want to play a full event or demo, but like watching the game play for like 10 minutes. Might be worth setting up some "open gaming" events in the evenings of cons where volunteers sit down and just play. Might be a hard sell to get the volunteers though...
