So i'm really new to this game. i recently bought an orc starter deck and i've only played one game using the basic rules.

But i've been reading about it quite a bit and i see that the kindoms expansion adds a campaign mode. I love this idea. I have had ideas running through my head for how to change the campaign rules.

I keep picturing in my mind having set battlefields made out in a fantasy world. each player starts in the middle of a country and if you win a fight you advance on their capital city. each fight there is a main objective for each army to complete as well as minor objectives that could give a player an advantage in the next fight.

Think of this idea as like a fire emblem game where your move around set battle field locations on a world map.

Just some ramblings that have been going through my head.

Anyone else done anything like this. Or has anyone tried an actual campaign using the rules. Justin curious as to what else everyone is doing out there.

thank in advance.

Welcome Jeggred!

It's not exactly what you're talking about, but I suggest you go to this following link:

And check out the mini-campaigns.  Especially the High Elves - Lizardmen one.  My regular opponent and I played that one twice when we were new to the game, and had a blast with it!

Welcome Jeggred! As one of the Orc fantiques on this forum, I can only encourage your choice. Definitely check out the Sessions section of the forum for some excellent tips and examples of high quality play. If you want to see some other musings you can check out my own blog:

I like your campaign ideas and enthusiasm. I've been thinking about one using the AH Diplomacy engine with confrontations being gamed out.

Look forward to sharing some ideas.

I'm still reading through the living rules pdf. I'd like to find a con where some people were playing so i could at least watch. I'm from the Cincinnati area. I think there is ForgeCon happening soon in Louisville or Lexington. The rules don't seem to complicated once you get them, its just keeping all the modifiers straight.

And its always great to hear first/early impressions from people, because we're often so immersed in it that we can't see the forest for the trees. Many times when working on the rules we wonder how it is going to look to someone just trying the game out. It may not seem like it, but we work very hard to limit rules bloat.

It's not a short drive, but Council of 5 Nations in Schenectady, NY in October has a large Battleground presence.  It would be a long drive but trains and planes are available  Cheesy

That will probably never happen...I"ve never been to a convention but i live so close to origins and Gencon i have to go to them soon. I'm sure someone will be playing this there.

Well if your fortunes change, I'll second Moose's sentiments about Council of 5 Nations.
