I was wondering how many of you were planning to attend, and if there were any BGFW events planned?  If so, what kind of events?

Thanks! Wink

I'm hoping to attend at least for the first two days. It's still pending however.

I too am hoping I'll be there but it isn't all set up yet.

But if I'm there, I'll be wanting to Battleground Wink

I'm just letting you all know now, upfront. If I go, and if I get to play, I'll probably suck.

I don't get to play as much as I like so I haven't had the time to get a groove going.

Be forewarned.

(However, let me win and I'll make you a custom avatar) Tongue

I'll hopefully be there for at least one or two days.

Also, for those of you that have never been before: housing registration opened up yesterday, and already almost every hotel within 8 miles of the convention is completely booked.  There are still some rooms at a quite reasonable rate at the Sheraton a few blocks from the convention, but all the other hotels are sold out already.

When you buy your Gencon badge, they send you a housing registration number via e-mail, along with a website to go to for booking rooms.  If you know for sure you're going, I would strongly recommend buying your badge and trying to get a room now.   If you can't get a room via the website, you can call the Gencon housing bereau and get on a wait list; experience in past years seems to be that getting on the wait list this early, you'll almost surely get a room, but the more time that goes by the more people are higher than you are on the list...

We will be running two types of Battleground events:

"Win the deck" events are aimed at new players/beginners.  Two players get the 1500-point quickstart armies from a starter deck and play against each other...the winner keeps the deck.

Sword Tournament.  This is the GenCon championship, with a big sword as first prize.  It's a constructed event with 2,000 point armies and some terrain will be used.

That sounds perfect Chad Shocked...  Does it cost like 7.50 per person?  Also, will I need to sign up for "win the deck" though gencon, or just show up at the YMG booth?

Heh.  It's a bit better than that.  We're required to charge (I believe) one generic ticket, which is about $2.  We don't charge anything on top of that...essentially we're saying, "If two people at GenCon want to invest an hour of their time playing Battleground we will give them a deck in exchange."

You won't need to sign up...we can run up to 10 at a time and it's unusual for us to fill up more than one or two time slots (out of maybe 12) over the course of the Con.
