As I was thinking today about Zelc's Beastmen army and the discussions around CC's and CA's, I thought a cool faction ability would be one where you could discard a card and get your CA back and spend it on anything but drawing a new card.

Then maybe one of the faction specific cards would be one that let you discard any number of cards from your hand and draw that many cards.

Another faction specific card would grant you two CA's for discarding the card.

Another faction specific card would allow you to discard it and draw two cards.

Another faction specific card would allow you to put a red card that you played back into your hand, after your opponent has played a blue card, before it takes effect.

The mechanic sounds more Magic the Gathering than Battleground, but I must say that something along those lines does strike me as intriguing.

That is true, but this just the core mechanic without the fluff description (other than the special ability title "flexible leadership"). Many cards would lose their nuance if reduced to the description of the mechanic.

Also, I was just spitballing, the final product wouldn't have to be very closely linked to this outline.
