You think with the addition of this rule the lizzies will "sweep" the tourney?Huh?? Well, if that's the case.  I may have to play them.  Grin  Buy the way, what is everybody thinking of playing this time around?

I'm thinking I might give the Orcs a go this time around, spamming with as many Trolls as I can legally take. Cool

Really?  Cheesy  The orcs are the front runners for me too.   Go figure. I'm like 99.99% sure.

The Direct Control rule benefits more than just the Lizzies of course.  Undead, Ravenwood (when "kin" are absent), Orcs and M&M also benefit from the rule.

The faction which gets its very own sugar cube is the Dwarves:  Dwarven Sprint lasts until the unit is engaged.  (And if you think that makes Dwarves unstoppable, you are of course welcome to take them and win my $. Wink )

How does the direct control rule help the Undead?

"Oh gee, I've been waiting for that rule all my life!  Now I can just flood the map with tons and tons of rats!"

Wink

My front runner is actually Ravenwood, but I'm still not 100% locked into that.  The call of the Dwarves is always strong with me (even without the Sprint thing) and I may even blow a gasket and play High Elves, Hawks, or something else.

Correct!  Again, that's in the document.  We're also testing out the "Disrupted" rule for unengaged units which blow a rout check.

Thanks Kevin....I did read that in the document.  I knew that the original penalty for firing into an engagement was (0) -1/0 and we've been playing with the (-1) 0/0 penalty as of late.  I just didn't know that none of them were going to be used.

20 days until the tournament!   Smiley Hope you all are looking forward to it as much as I am!

Anyone still considering it, please show up!  It's going to be a great time,  and is a unique experience to play games with so many other people.  (Also, the swiss structure of the tournment means that people get matched vs. those of similar records, so less experienced players are likely be be matched with others of their level after a round or two.)  There are also prizes which only new/casual players can win.

Some logistical stuff:

Before anyone asks, there is no pre-registration.  Just show up!

There are at least 20 restaurants within a 5-minute walk of the store (many are under 2 minutes).  So obtaining food is really easy.  I believe it's OK for folks to bring food into the tournament area, though enough time is built into the event that folks can usually go out and come back afterward.

Regarding alcohol, Pandemonium Books & Games has a super-strict no-alcohol policy (The city could close them down if people are seen drinking, and the store has expelled people (at other events) for violating this.)  The good news for drinkers is that there's a bar witihin a couple hundred feet of the store (and several others nearby).

Looking forward to what?  A bunch of geeks pushing cards around a table?  Not me.  I'd much rather stay here and listen to my screaming baby.  Screw you all.

Now that I think of it, they had some pretty cool books there.  So I'm going to drive up to Boston just so I can buy a book.  Then I'm going to leave.

Not only that, but there are an incredible amount of strip clubs in the area.  I'm going to visit one of those and read my book in the middle of a show.  Because I'm a literary kind of guy.

That's OK, I gave up drinking for heroin.  Much safer and no messy bottles to clean up.  After the strip club I'm mosey on back to the store and then cook myself up a smack dose of epic perportions.  I'll make sure that I ask a youngster if he'll help me tie off the tournaquet.

You Sir, may feel free to suck it

 Grin

In all seriousness, I urge anybody that are still on the fence to come.  Kevin runs a very tight but fair ship.  It's a nice facility that is a great gaming environment.  And while organization and all that other fine stuff is great, the real meat of the matter is that it is just plain fun.  You get to play the game we all love with a bunch of great people.  I walked away last year with an overall 3-3 record and had a terrific time.  Join us!
