Awesomeness!  I encourage everyone to jump on the bandwagon that Mike has started-up.

Council of Five Nations 34 is October 7-9, 2011.

Historically, only Star Fleet Battles and a handful of other events start around 10am on Friday.  A bunch start at 2pm, and we have a pretty-full schedule (many of the gaming tables allocated) on Friday night at 7pm.  Saturday, of course, is the busiest day.  The last formal event slot is 3-7pm on Sunday.  We usually kick the hardcore stragglers out around 9pm.

Travelers will fly into Albany International Airport (ALB).  This is about 20-30 minutes by car to the convention facility.

Travelers might also take Amtrak or Greyhound bus to Schenectady, NY.  The train station is literally within walking distance of the convention facility.  The bus station is a longer walk, or a very quick car ride.

I would write more, but Bohan/Zelc just arrived a few minutes ago.  He's here for an all-day Battleground lovefest at the SWA April Game-a-thon.

I was thinking that we should nail down the Battleground schedule for Council soon, to get maximum marketing potential.  Let me work on that.

Bohan, as a condition of his staying with me this weekend, has signed a blood pledge to attend Council this October, so that's at least two out-of-towners committed.

Who else?

Watch this space for more updates soon,
-DC

EDIT:  Mike "Gull2112" originally started this thread.  He asked about the schedule of BFW events, and good travel options.  I later asked him to go back and edit the title to include the date of the convention, for marketing purposes.  It looks like something happened and his original post is now gone.  Oops.  Anyway, now that my second post has been promoted to first post, I've edited the title.  Sorry about that.

Bohan and I are soon off to breakfast.  But a quick note - I have a better answer for Mike's original question.

We will have as much Battleground as you guys in the community want us to have, as long as we can expect a decent critical mass.

So, if enough of you say here that you want BFW to start at 10am on Friday and be in every event slot all weekend, we'll do our best to make that happen.

Considering how many Star Fleet Battles players are also BGFW plaers you could always hang out in the SFB room and play informa games there.  Cheesy

I'd love to go, but simply can't promise anything that far out.

It looks like I will be taking a friday morning flight and getting in at around 12 or 1. So that means I'll be hitting the gaming tables around 3 or 4.

I'm hoping that will work. My alternative, which I don't really want to do, is to fly in thursday really late for anothe $100 in airfare plus I'd have another hotel night. Tongue So Friday it will have to be.

I should be in from Cali and plan to spend about 2 weeks in Albany area.  If I can make it out to Boston the week after this con, I hope to visit Chad, Niko and any other folks.  If anyone knows of game stores in Albany area and is willing to setup in-store demo times with the owners, I'd be glad to bring all the stuff to do that.

Feel free to kick me in the butt if I forget.

Alright, this is fair warning, I have made my plane reservations as well as booked a room at the Parker, so I will be there this October.

I land in Albany Friday afternoon at 1:55PM and my flight leaves at 6:00PM Sunday.

I fully expect to see all the jersey boys as well as any who still dare to oppose me from TotalCon Grin

I just got my reminder for people who want to register to run an event. Does somebody need to do that? Is this already handled? Dave, Bueller, anybody...?
