Army ability: Arete. Most units have two Arete boxes -- attack and defense (we'll want cooler names). Either one can be marked for one command action. While at least one box is marked the unit has C+1. Erase all marks if a unit routs.
Okay, so maybe I just don't "get" faction abilities, so can you help me understand here?
If my idea of it was no good because it only modified to-hit rolls (yours or opponent's), then how is this one better? If modifying the to-hit roll is no good, but modifying the to-wound is good (because it always equals a point), then you're spending one CA to functionally modify only 1 to-wound roll. That doesn't seem good utility for a CA.
If the idea is to have the army ability be 'mostly useless, but worth 1 pt in the right conditions' (which is where this ability leans) why not just simplify and make the army ability be one box that can be erased to modify a to-wound roll (yours or his)?
