Most Excellent!

This means that Kevin must knock me out of the Star Fleet Battles tournament BEFORE the final round this time around.

Excellent!!!  Can't wait to play some battlegrounds.  Chris(LordoftheDead) is a threat now that he actually likes the death knights.   Grin  I'm gonna train my peasant mobs and clean up those bastards.

Just got an email from Luke in Cleveland, Ohio.  He's coming to Council to play Battleground.

Who else is driving in from outside our typical 3-hour radius?

I will try to make it. I will just have to consider my funds at the time and whether or not it will be a "get a room and sleep over" kind of thing or a "drive up for one day" kind of thing.

Plus, as I mentioned, I haven't played BG in over a year and I have not been keeping up on all the rule changes since then. Bad, I know.

I'm going as well. I think some of if not all of the Jersey guys are playing SFB as well. Me, all Battleground. I'm not that good, but hey there's gotta be someone there worse than me. What rules set is the tourney? And what format?

Can I make a request?  I'd really like it if all games in the Saturday night "Speed Tournament" are Total Warfare, with 1500 point armies

When we did the speed tournament last year we got other scenarios, which would often be converted to Total Warfare because time would be called.  I recall one time we played "Border Defense" and my best two units never saw combat because the opponent kept his side back near the border and time was called before my units (who had to wade through a river) got anywhere near the border.

Along similar lines, with 2000-point armies sometimes the time was called before much decisive happened.  Smaller armies = less time wasted rolling dice, and plotting moves, each turn, so we're much more likely to see games end with real victories/defeats.

2000-point armies and varied scenarios would work well in the full-length Sunday tournament.

So, since I have never played in a tournament before, how exactly does it work?  When we play the 2000 point tournament with scenarios, do we have to play the same Faction each time, or can we switch between battles?  If I start in Umenzi (this is just for discussion sake; I am in no way endorsing the Umenzi or considering playing them  Grin really, likely Undead or High Elf) do I have to play them for every battle?  Just curious.

For the 1500 point quick tournament, you'll register a specific list and be locked into it for the event.

For the 2000 point scenario tournament, you'll be locked into a faction for the whole tournament, but will make your specific army after seeing the terrain and being told your opponent's faction.  (You also aren't committed to using mercs or not; you can decide if you want to for each separate game.)
