Totalcon now has a 2 Battleground events listed in the program:  a Kingdoms campaign Friday at 3PM, and the tournament (2 slots) Saturday at 1PM.  Both are listed under Collectible Card Games.  (Cue Rodney Dangerfield  Tongue .)

You can pre-register at
http://www.totalcon.com/Registration.html

Looking forward to it!  Grin  I couldn't get my wife quite drunk enough for her to agree to play, but Jaime and Ron are coming.  Jaime's friend John might be there as well.

Hopefully the tournament will last longer than the slotted 4 hours, or we'll be looking at "Speed Battleground" again like at Council of 5 Nations.  I'll also make a plea that if time limits are going to be an issue at all that we play with 1500-point armies rather than 2000-point armies.  Next time I get assigned the "Border Defense" scenario it would be really peachy if we have enough playing time for our units to actually reach each other's borders before time is called!  Wink

I'll be there on Saturday, but I'll have to miss the Kingdoms campaign.  I'm saving my vacation time for DragonCon this year!

Ditto.  Friday I have a full teaching schedule.  Ron is also probably just there for the tournament.  Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

The Saturday tournament will also (probably) be run using Kingdoms.  Also, we have some tables out in the main hallway for teaching/demos, so when the four hours for the main event are up we'll probably do something like cut to top 4/8 and do the finals outside (or anywhere else we can scrounge unofficial room).

I was really looking forward to our armies slugging it out.  Would've been a great battle!

Are any of your New Jersey comrades making the trek north?

Not sure that I could afford it.

No, strike that, I know that I cannot afford it.

One day.

You'd only have to afford transportation -- you could stay at my place.

Congrats to Jaime (Mexico) for his victory at Totalcon in our 2-round single-elimination tournament!

Round 1;  Breaking Point scenario, muddy field.  Jaime's Umenzi defeat "Unknownman's" Lizardmen.

Ambush scenario, map with forested hill.  Ron's Carthaginians defeat my Romans.

Round 2:  Key Objective, 2 small woods and one small hill.  Jaime's Umenzi defeat Ron's Carthaginians.

All 3 games were very tight, and could have gone the other way with one blown rout check.  In fact, during the finals, all 3 of us (I was watching) were convinced that Jaime was headed for a quick defeat.

Photos forthcoming.

Family stuff kept me away from the convention for most of the weekend, but I was there long enough to meet a bunch of forum-friends, which is always cool.  wandered over to watch the games in progress and (lacking my YMG shirt or any other giveaway), the tourney players just thought I was some guy who knew how to play Battleground (but was obviously a jerk since I wasn't in the tournament)!

Much thanks as always to Niko for running demos all weekend, and to Rada for helping him out on Sunday.  Also, Greenfield Games was kind enough to sell Battleground on our behalf.

First prize in the tournament was a faction of the winner's choice -- including Dark Elves, which I'm pretty sure was the final choice.

Just wanted to say Congrats to Jaimie.
Sorry I couldn't stay to see the final match guys, but it was nice to play with and talk to some experienced battleground players.
Btw, did anyone grab my mat? I completely forgot it as I ran out the door.

Thanks!  It was a great game, especially if you've only been playing for a few weeks!

I did pick up your mat.  I sent you a PM about it - let me know if you want to meet at YMG to pick it up, or if I should just leave it there with Niko at some point.
