I was thinking about the concept of a Demonic Host Faction and these were my thoughts:

The rank and file demons could be taken from the many excellent suggestions already found on the board. What makes The Demonic Host Faction different is the Summoner.

A summoner has 3 summoning boxes (arranged like the boxes on the blade dancers card). During the M&C phase, If the unit has a Hold Standing Order, the player may mark a box and place a lesser demon on the board adjacent to the summoner. Alternatively, the player could spend a Command Action to mark an additional box and place a greater demon adjacent to the summoner, or the player may spend two command actions to mark all three boxes and place a Major Demon adjacent to the summoners. A summoner may only summon a Demon if he has enough unmarked summoning boxes.

As many lesser and greater demons maybe summoned as there are cards remaining. Only one Major Demon may be present on the board at any one time, as these great infernals with their egos will not tolerate the presence of another of their kind and would immediately attack each other.

Summoner spell "The Enemy Within"
Unit must make a courage test, if it fails it immediately makes a normal melee attack against itself. Damage from this attack cannot cause Courage checks.

Faction Power   DEMONIC EMBRACE
Spend a Command Action to give a unit the Terror keyword. Erase after unit causes a fear check.
This has no effect on units that already have the Terror keyword.

I have left off point costs as that would only be determined once other details have been hammered out. I am imagining the spell attack would be statisticaly similar to the Lash Mistresses spell with the effects as given.

Note that the player could buy any demons as per normal means and then summon more as per the limits set out above. The faction would also include non-demonic troops, individuals who have pledged their souls to these dark powers, who could be given the Demonic Embrace.

As an alternative to the summoning rules above, I thought that any given summoner could only check off one box a turn and that it would require multiple summoners adjacent to each other to mark off a total of 2 or 3 boxes in order to summon the more powerful demons, I prefer this method, I am not sure if this is too complex, but now that I've written it out I guess it doesn't seem all that complex. The Summoner idea is pretty wicked, but I'm not sure how it would fit into the whole points-cost army build thing.

The "peasant" unit for this faction could be The Souls of The Damned.  I'm thinking along the lines of Umenzi Possessed.

I'd like to add that the Spearmen for this faction should actually be Pitchforkmen Wink

That's always the big question with summoner armies. My solution is to have the summoned units disappear after they eliminate a unit (or the target unit for Major Demons). This and the fact that summoned units do not discern between friend and foe limits their application enough to balance out.

Well, ideally their would be specific demons to summon, I am just using whatever is available to try it out. But I definitely can see a Souls of the Damned unit being part of that deck! remember also that summoned units (like Undead) are immune to rout checks).

I am a concurring mo' fo' in this instance.
