Hi All,

Curufea has been working with us on the next incarnation of the YMG website and it's going to be wiki-based.  This will free us from the disastrous reliance on the CMS of the firm that did the last incarnation and will also allow much more responsive editing.

It will also make it possible for approved users to have various editing rights for the site as a whole.  My thought is that some areas would be open for core players to make additions that would await confirmation and in some areas one or more of you might like to take full ownership.  I know some of you have already done yeoman's work on things like tracking errata & rules changes.

So this thread serves two purposes -- to find out what additional content you'd like to see on the site and to find out who is interested in helping us keep the site current and useful (and in what areas you'd like to do that).

Thanks as always,
Chad

Great news, I always knew that Curufea guy was good for more than just snappy Java apps Smiley

Of course I'd be interested in helping with content.

Of course, I'm excited and willing to help out in whatever capacity my low-tech abilities may allow. Wink

I'll keep up the spam hunting, of course, and can edit/copy with the best of them.  Not sure I want to take point on any pages, though.

This is very exciting Chad.  I am VERY glad to hear a new site is in production.  I would be willing to help, but I don't know where as of yet.  Most likely I could do updates and news - locations for demos and YMG at Cons, etc.
When this gets closer, please let me know.

I could help with spam-hunting and proofreading.

Discovered this thread just a few hours after asking for improved page load speeds in "Player Requests".
I suspect a new web site engine will help.

Chad,
Do you have any idea on when it will go live?

I really should visit this forum more often Smiley

Sorry about the app BTW - kinda don't have the time to develop it further (although for the record it's javascript and SVG Smiley )

From my experience using wikis - establishing some kind of infrastructure is the best thing to do.  Work out moderators, sections for them to use, ways for people to communicate about changes and problems.

I'll leave it up to Chad whether he wants to let folk know about the test environment on my website or not - I'm happy to have folks fiddle with that as long as they bare in mind that changes won't be reflected in the official Your Move Games wiki.

[edit] also - on the app - if anyone wants the sourcecode just let me know, I'm happy for anyone to develop or modify it.

Bump!

I still think this is a great idea. Have we had enough interest to keep it going?

I also saw Rog5's comment about having a "special case corner" somewhere and wanted to put that out there again as a useful addition.
