This year at Kublacon, we're do a two-day, 6-round Kingdoms campaign-a-ment with modified campaign trees.  This event is open to fantasy and historical factions.

Dates & Times:
Day I:  Friday, May 27.  6:00pm-1:00am
Day II:  Saturday, May 28.  10:00am-5:00pm

(if you can only make one day, that's fine. We'll squeeze you in and start you with enough Gold to catch up)

Format:
•  At the start of the event, each player will choose a faction deck and one of the following kingdom traits:  Militaristic, Civic, Mercantile, Religious.  Each trait will be a different campaign tree for the player, each with several unique kingdom resources.

•  Mercenaries:  the Monsters & Mercenaries deck will be the mercenary faction for this event and may not be chosen as a faction.  However, depending on their kingdom trait, players may be allowed to take other factions as mercenaries.  Players are strongly encouraged to bring a Monsters & Mercenaries deck and any other factions they may own.

•  Rounds will have the following campaign levels
Round 1-2:  Red
Round 3-4:  Blue
Round 5-6:  Green

Phases of a Round:
1.   Set-up:
        •  Resources:  players may purchase up to two of each type of Oval resources during this phase (instead of a maximum of 1).
2.   Battle Selection:  No changes
3.   Muster:  No changes.
4.   Battle:  No changes.
5.   Record Keeping:
        •  The amount of gold earned each round will be doubled, and will be rolled by the event organizer.
        •  There will be a “Round Zero” roll for gold, allowing players to purchase resources before Round 1.

Schedule:
Each round is scheduled to last no more than 2 hours, broken down as follows:

10 minutes:  Set-up phase
 5 minutes:  Battle Selection phase
20 minutes:  Muster phase
90 minutes:  Battle & Record Keeping phase

If all players complete each phase before the allotted time, the extra time will be “banked” for the next phase, up to the Battle phase (after which, will be reset).  The goal is to provide players as much time to game as possible.

If time expires for each phase, players will only be allowed choices made until then.  So, if a player has not selected any Resources by the end of the Set-up phase he or she will be assumed to have made no Resource purchases.

Note:  If a player has not completed building his or her army at the end of the Muster phase, then that player will fight the battle with the army selected, even if this means playing the game with fewer points than his/her opponent.  This may seem harsh, but the goal is to get in six games in a timely manner.  It’s recommended that players come with a few pre-made 1,000 pt armies with the intent to add on to that list.

A 6 round, 2 day Battleground campaign-a-ment, using modified Kingdoms campaign rules.  Player will choose a faction deck and a kingdom trait that provides a unique resource tree.  Players are strongly encouraged to bring a Monsters & Mercenaries deck and any other factions they own.

It is highly recommended that players review the modified Resources and Kingdom Trees:

Hannibal,
I'm working on plans to have a booth for YMG at KublaCon.  I will also be offering Win-a-deck demos.
Anything I can do to support and promote this event for you, let me know!

Sweet!

Sadly the event isn't very customer friendly.  Given the success of other events, we had to bump Battleground to Friday & Saturday.  Plus its a pretty heavily modified version of Battleground.

So really the question is, can I help you?  You're bringing the Alexander vs Persia cards?  I'm pretty slammed on time that weekend, but I can drop by the booth for a bit.  Maybe set up some Persia & Alexander fights late Sunday.

Yes, I will have a selection of all army cards and the Alexander/Persia betas.
Depending on how things go on the forums, I may make a batch of Amazon cards, too!!  Hee Hee
Looking forward to meeting more of you northern/central CA players.
I can ALWAYS use help with demos... and I might need to share a room, if you know anyone with space.

As soon as the KublaCon folks get back to me, I will let you know what's happening.

I don't think I'll be able to do much help with demos, sadly.  I'll probably be able to drop in.  Maybe we can set something informal up for Sunday night.  Maybe you could run some "win a deck" events late Sunday after the painting awards.  Like 9:00pm or later?

I have events during these times:
Friday:  6:00pm-1:00am
Saturday:  10:00am-5:00pm, 6:00pm-1:00am
Sunday:  10:00am-7:00pm

Right now, I don't know arrival/departure times/days.  I am driving up and back, about 8 hrs or so each way, and will have work the day before and after the event.  So this leaves little before and after time for me, unfortunately.
Once I know more, I'll let you know.

I am registered as Your Move Games and have a dealer table for this con.
I will be running win-a-deck demos over the weekend.
If anyone is interested in giving 2 hours here and there to help out, there may be a gift or 2 in your future.

Volunteer for booth and demos: If anyone wishes to volunteer to help at the booth, I have one full weekend pass.

Hotel:  I am looking to share a room.  If anyone has space, or wants to split the costs with me, please let me know asap.

Kublacon is right around the corner, and here's the updated list of errata and trial rules we'll be using at the Battleground Empires event:

All hail Dave-SVA for producing the master template of this!

If a unit larger than your unit charges you, you are “outreached” and get an automatic (-1)/0/0.

Don't you mean - 'If a unit larger than your unit charges you, you are “outreached” and get an automatic (-1)/+0/+0.'

Yeah, typos probably abound.  Luckily that one isn't too confusing.  I'll collect the typos and fix them in one swoop.

One week away and (hopefully) the last errata to be added:

1.3.2.1 Command Action Reduction – New Rule
As an army disintegrates, Command Actions are lost.  A player cannot have more Command Actions than he has non-routing, non-skirmisher units.  If a player does not have any non-routing, non-skirmisher units, he still has 1 Command Action which may only be used to Rally a unit.

1.3.2.6 Sound the Charge – New Rule
Sound the Charge may not be used if a player has lost 2 or more Command Actions due to Command Action Reduction.

These are just for the tournament, right?

Yeah.  I have no official capacity for changing rules.  This is just my event, and I thought I'd give this idea and the terrain idea a whirl.
