In the Dwarven Miner's flavor text you are talking about a battle ( i don't remember the name now) that made the Miners' guild to create a military faction from within it's ranks.

Can we have a scenario depicting this battle?

Maybe a fortified entrance of a mining complex and an orcish force attacking, with the compiment of some Goblin chukkers. And maybe a secret exit or something that will bring the dwarven miners' reinforcements in play, ready to save the day.

What do you think?

Since Chad likes the idea, here is what i have thought about the scenario but i don't have the time to do it right now myself (i prefer playing the newly acquired Umenzi  Grin).

Anyway, i think that a big force of Goblins and Orcs (maybe 2500-3000 points) with two Goblin Chukkas will attack a fortified cliff side with the entrance to the mining complex on the top. The dwarven force will be something like 1500 points, mainly cheap units since the complex was not expecting the attack.

After the first two turns or something, the dwarven player rolls a die. If the result is 5+ then at the start of the next dwarven turn, 3 (or more, you are the playtesters Tongue) units of miners are deployed to a random table edge (except the deployment zone of the dwarves of course) returning from a mining expedition, rushing to the help of their comrades, onve they heard the noise of battle and saw the fires of the Orcish army.

For each turn after the 2nd one, the dwarven player gets +1 at his die roll.....

This is my idea, i will really like to see it developed by you Smiley

Cheers m8s!

Err, great Jenny.... Angry

As lazyj and I are developing the siege expansion for BG, we will definitely include rules for this type of scenario, which at this point I can tell you, will easily be accomodated.

I have to say, I think 2500-3000 pts of Orcs is a little steep, but that depends on situation.
What are considerations for winning conditions?

Thoughts:
Orc must get one unit into the mine entrance, or
the Dwarves must keep Orcs outside 7" of the entrance for 8-10 Dwarf turns or
Dwarves must eliminate one Chukka or
Dwarves eliminated = Orcs win, Orcs loose 50% of starting units (units, not points) = Dwarf win (this only works if Orcs start with 3k)

This is a cool idea for scenario... I may work on this.

Of course, you could do a "Battle of Five Armies" sort of thing where the orcs are timed. Yeah, they got an overwhelming force, but they have to get it all into the mine before the giant war flamingoes show up and start eating them like popcorn. So not only do they have to get past the dwarf defenders, but the level of victory is based on how many points of troops they get in the hole before game ends.

Actually, this is the Dwarven Hammermen unit:
"After the battle of Artuk, the Smithy's Guild initiated formal military training for its members."

I am working on specs and map for a Miner's scenario anyway, but I may do something for this as well.
